PFAS, also known as ‘forever chemicals,’ are prevalent in the environment. PFAS are a category of chemicals used since the 1940s to repel oil and water and resist heat, which makes them useful in everyday products such as nonstick cookware, stain resistant clothing, and firefighting foam. The science is clear that exposure to certain PFAS over a long period of time can cause cancer and other illnesses. In addition, PFAS exposure during critical life stages such as pregnancy or early childhood can also result in adverse health impacts. Across the country, PFAS contamination is impacting millions of people’s health and wellbeing. People can be exposed to PFAS through drinking water or food contaminated with PFAS, by coming into contact with products that contain PFAS, or through workplace exposures in certain industries.
EPA is taking a signature step to protect public health by establishing legally enforceable levels for several PFAS known to occur individually and as mixtures in drinking water. This rule sets limits for five individual PFAS: PFOA, PFOS, PFNA, PFHxS, and HFPO-DA (also known as “GenX Chemicals”). The rule also sets a limit for mixtures of any two or more of four PFAS: PFNA, PFHxS, PFBS, and “GenX chemicals.” By reducing exposure to PFAS, this final rule will prevent thousands of premature deaths, tens of thousands of serious illnesses, including certain cancers and liver and heart impacts in adults, and immune and developmental impacts to infants and children. EPA estimates that between about 6% and 10% of the 66,000 public drinking water systems subject to this rule may have to take action to reduce PFAS to meet these new standards. All public water systems have three years to complete their initial monitoring for these chemicals. They must inform the public of the level of PFAS measured in their drinking water. Where PFAS is found at levels that exceed these standards, systems must implement solutions to reduce PFAS in their drinking water within five years. Additionally, EPA has a nationwide Water Technical Assistance program to help small, rural, and disadvantaged communities access federal resources by working directly with water systems to identify challenges like PFAS; develop plans; build technical, managerial, and financial capacity; and apply for water infrastructure funding. To all our customer and partners- thank you! Tankless water heaters provide hot water only as it is needed. There is no stand by heat losses associated with tank water heaters. Tankless water heaters heat water directly, without a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned on any where in the house, cold water is heated directly as it passes through either gas or electric heat exchanger. As a result, a tankless water heater can deliver constant, endless supply of hot water using less energy. Most tankless water heaters last up to 20 or more years. Almost all tankless water heater models manufactured by Rinnai, Navien, Takagi/A.O. Smith, Rheem and Noritz are offered with 12 or 15 years heat exchanger warranty for residential use, and certain Noritz models are being covered for 25 years. Pacific Tankless is a leader in tankless water heater installations and conversions from tank to a tankless system. Pacific Tankless offers free onsite consultations and estimates, fast and professional installations, and extremely competitive pricing and financing.
Do you want to save water, save energy, help reduce carbon impact on the environment and save money?
Pacific Tankless has a solution. Modern tankless water heaters have very high energy efficiency factor, up to 0.97- almost no energy is wasted heating water. Unlike regular water heaters which heat the water in their tanks 24/7 and almost half of the heating energy is lost, tankless water heaters work on demand only. Tankless water heaters will heat water only when you need hot water- this will reduce your energy demand (electricity, NG or LP) and your personal carbon footprint. When we turn a shower on, often times we have to wait for the hot water to arrive. In some homes, depending on architectural characteristics, pipes, water heater and bathroom location, this waiting period could be four minutes or even longer. Typical shower head water flow is around 2 gallons per minute (gpm). While waiting four minutes for hot water, in an year a household of four unintentionally will waste some 14,600 gl of clean, potable water down the drain. Hot water recirculation system will significantly reduce the waiting time and thus water waste. Tankless water heaters with a built-in recirculating pump, hot water return lines and efficiently designed water piping are solutions to a major problem which can not be ignored. Most of our work takes place in residential environment- apartments, townhouses and detached homes. Some of our clients are also property managers, real estate agents, investors, and business owners. We have completed projects in a number of restaurants, beauty salons and spas, flower shops, car wash and gas stations, hotels, office buildings, schools, churches, mosques, medical and dental facilities. We have experience with historic buildings and completed projects in Coronado, Downtown, North Park, Hillcrest, Mission Hills and La Mesa.
